Becoming an Ethical, Competent and Effective Intercultural Practitioner: The Nuts and Bolts of Getting from Theory to Practise

Intended for: New graduates and career changers within the intercultural field, and new or experienced trainers and practitioners in other fields:
Programme outline: Reflect on the functional and ethical responsibilities and duties of intercultural practitioners
Confirm that they have both the motivation and the basic skills and experience to launch a successful career in this area
Explore the different freelance and in-house opportunities that are available in the intercultural training field and the associated areas of intercultural coaching, consulting and facilitation (including, where possible, direct advice from experienced intercultural practitioners and potential employers)
Devise effective marketing strategies and publicity materials for finding full, and-or part-time work
Develop practical skills to network, interview and negotiate successfully
Design concrete personal action plans for building on existing qualifications and expertise and filling in any immediate gaps over the short to medium term and ensuring consistent professional development over the long term

Background: JEREMY SOLOMONS is a UK-born founding member of ICPW and founder/president of Jeremy Solomons & Associates, based in Austin, Texas. He provides customised coaching, facilitation and training in Career Development, Conflict Resolution, Global Diversity, Global Leadership, Intercultural Communication, Multicultural Teambuilding and Presentation Skills to current and future leaders around the world. In the past, he worked as a full-time Banker, Educator and Journalist in six multinational institutions and lived in eight countries in Asia, Europe and North America. He was a founding board member of SIETAR USA, with shared responsibility for Careers and Mentoring and has co-designed and co-delivered many workshops on intercultural and international career development in the USA and Europe since 1995
